A Birder's Paradise
With over 1,000 bird species recorded in the region, Jardín is one of the premier birdwatching destinations in the Americas. The star attraction is the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock (Gallito de Roca), a vibrant orange bird whose dramatic courtship displays can be witnessed at the Jardín de Rocas reserve in the Río Volcanes canyon.

Cloud Forests
Where the Clouds Live
The cloud forests surrounding Jardín are among the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. Draped in moss and orchids, these misty forests are home to hundreds of endemic species. The ProAves foundation has established protected areas to safeguard these precious habitats.

Waters of Jardín
The Cueva del Esplendor — a cave with a waterfall pouring through its ceiling — is perhaps Jardín's most magical natural wonder. But it's just one of many: the Cascada del Amor is an easy hike from town, and the rivers flowing through the valleys offer swimming holes and trout fishing.

Protecting Paradise
Local organizations like ProAves work to consolidate the local system of protected areas (SILAP) in Jardín. Through tree planting, river cleaning, and community education, the people of Jardín are working to preserve their natural heritage for future generations.
